“Great design can open doors. I believe access changes everything — access to information, to opportunity, and to help. That’s what drives everything I do at Spotlight.”
David R Bell is a designer and brand strategist who believes access changes everything — access to information, to opportunity, and to help. As Product and Brand Design Manager at Psiphon, he works at the intersection of design and digital rights, helping people around the world bypass censorship to reach the open internet.
As Creative Director of Spotlight Recovery, he brings that same conviction to a different kind of barrier — the ones that keep people from finding the mental health and addiction support they need. Guided by a belief that great design can open doors, David partners with Spotlight Recovery founder Lucas Shane Wade to build a brand and platform that makes recovery feel accessible, human, and within reach.
David shapes how Spotlight Recovery looks and reads — the identity, the product design and the accessibility work behind it. If your brand needs the same kind of attention, tell us what you’re working on and we’ll set up a conversation.

No. David is Creative Director — design and brand, not clinical care.
If you’re looking for support, call 705-715-1168 or use the contact page and you’ll be matched with a counsellor, psychotherapist or coach.
He designs how Spotlight Recovery looks, reads and works — the brand and the platform both — alongside founder Lucas Shane Wade.
The brief is simple to say and hard to do: make recovery feel accessible, human and within reach, rather than clinical and intimidating. Reaching out for help is hard enough without the website making it harder.
David is Product and Brand Design Manager at Psiphon, working where design meets digital rights — helping people around the world get past censorship and reach the open internet.
The thread running through both jobs is access. One removes a barrier to information; the other removes a barrier to help.
Tell us, and it gets fixed. Accessibility is treated as part of the design work rather than something bolted on afterwards.
